A writ has been filed in the High Court seeking a direction that the prime minister should not resign from her post until the next successor is appointed.
The writ petition was partially heard in the High Court bench of Justice Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat on Tuesday. The next hearing will be held in the first week of November.
This writ was done by the Supreme Court lawyer Md. Mozammel Haque. Eight people including the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister`s Principal Secretary and the Law Secretary have been made defendants in this writ.
Lawyer Mozammel Haque said, "I fear that Sheikh Hasina may be forced to resign. This will hinder development of the country. So that she does not have to resign, I have written a writ in the public interest, asking for instructions".
